The special event for this home game is a “Tug-of-War Border Battle – between St. Louis County vs. Douglas County Emergency Services” with the participants from the following groups:

     -         Fire Departments

-         Volunteer Fire Departments

-         Police Departments

-         Sheriff Departments

-         State Patrols

-         First Responders

-         Ambulance Service

PIZZA TRAIN EXCURSION

Fans came 'all aboard' on a Pizza Train Excursion on June 6, at the Duluth Depot - North Shore Scenic Railroad.  They met the players and cheerleaders and ate pizza while enjoying a train ride.

Mayors David Ross (Superior), Don Ness (Duluth) and Keith McDonald (Hermantown) signed Proclamation  as follows:

WHEREAS, the Cities of Superior, Wisconsin; Duluth, Minnesota; and Hermantown, Minnesota; are honored to be apart of honoring the legends of the Old NFL in the Twin Ports; and

WHEREAS, The Duluth-Superior Shoremen honor the Tradition of Ernie Nevers Duluth Eskimos with the first annual “Clash of The Leatherheads” game; and


WHEREAS,
the Duluth-Superior Shoremen become the cornerstone of the history laid down by Ernie Nevers, Johnny “Blood” McNally, Ole Haugsrud and the rest of the Duluth Eskimos; and


WHEREAS,
the Duluth-Superior Shoremen are honored to bring this game to the fans of the Twin Ports for years to come; and


NOW, THEREFORE, WE THE MAYORS
of Superior, Duluth, and Hermantown, do hereby proclaim Saturday, June 7, 2008 as
“ ERNIE NEVERS DULUTH ESKIMOS - CLASH OF THE LEATHERHEADS DAY”


The day the fans can say thanks to the men who gave their blood, sweat, and tears to give the Twin Ports the game of Professional Football and to the Duluth-Superior Shoremen who continue this tradition on a yearly basis.
