Express drop tough game to league leading Canucks
10/23/2022

The undefeated Canucks came to East End today to take on a battered Express team. We were already without a couple key players in Eori and Chudley who are lost long-term from injuries sustained in recent games, and today our captian was also out ill.

This presented both an opportunity and challenge to the others to step up and take advantage of additional ice time and roles. The first period started with lots of speed and quick transitions, 5 on 5 game was even and Bruchanski opened the scoring when he pulled the puck along the blueline and ripped a seeing-eye shot that found the back of the net from Turner and Leeson.

The 2nd period saw us playing a good portion short handed which resutled in a couple PP goals for the Canucks. Too bad on the players who were knocked into the crease on goalie Powers along with the net knocked off but the goal unfourtunately counted.

Powers stood tall all game. The period ended 2-1 for the Canucks.

Heading into the 3rd more penalties hurt the EXPRESS and St. James went up by 2. The Express took advantage of their opportunity on PP to narrow the score to 3-2. But then when we were pushing hard to tie, we gave up a short-handed goal and couldn't find the twine again.

Next home game is Friday, October 28 at 8pm against the Charleswood Hawks, here at home at East End Arena.
