In an effort to cut down on the wear and tear that we subject the fields that we play on to, please refrain from using them for team practices during the course of the season. We'll be posting the location of week two's games no later than Thursday (12/17/15) by 6:00 PM.
I was asked to express the gratitude of several of the officials of Saturday's games for the conduct of all the players. Really appreciated the good sportsmanship! Please remember that one player from each team should be ready to help us officiate the game that they are not playing in each week. It is not an ideal way to keep officiating crews healthy, but it is the best way we have for now. Special thanks to everyone that did volunteer last week. Your participation is invaluable to me.
HELP WANTED
1) While on the field at Redbud Baseball Center, watch out for pieces of obsidian (volcanic glass). Remove any found from playing field… even if timeout during a game needs to be called. Pregame walk overs should be completed before every game!
2) Animal droppings…no elaboration necessary!
3) Baseball field renovations will probably effect schedule. Team fees will be partially reimbursed if full season isn’t accomplished. Captains will be contacted to discuss the changes and help decide location of remaining games.
4) BE ON TIME! Games at KEC ( Konocti Education Center) Field have to be run VERY EFFICIENTLY. They are costing us $60.00 per game! The facility use log will be show starting at 11:00am and ending at 3:00pm. Therefore, set up and tear down has to be done very quickly. Equipment will be staged outside of fence and taken on to the field JUST BEFORE FIRST GAME STARTS and taken off the field IMMEDIATELY AFTER SECOND GAME ENDS.
5) Obviously, volunteers for that will be invaluable and need to show up early for first game and stay late after second game. We’ll be at the fields by 10:00am!
6) Scorekeeper, Down Marker Person, and Officials should be ready to go before we step on the field. We should all be recruiting for them and keeping in contact with referee (me) throughout the week prior to each Saturday. Unless, of course, “permanent” volunteers can be found.
7) Make sure that EVERYTHING that is brought on to the fields is removed in order to avoid clean up fees. Littering will wear out our welcome just as fast as bad conduct will.
Thanks everyone...and good luck to you all. Let's have some fun!
Team captains have already been notified that the scheduling for this season(2015/2016) will be posted on this website after we have our Jamboree on Saturday,December 5th. Since the field that we have been using for the last couple of seasons is owned by Konocti Unified School District, and their recent restructuring program has effected facility use policies, our permit to use the Konocti Education Center Field is pending our agreement to pay $30.00 per hour to use the field. Feedback that we've received from league members has not been very supportive on this issue. Therefore, the schedule that we post will confirm matchups and times, but not locations. The inconvenience that this will cause is problematic, especially for "traveling" league members, but with everyone's patience fully engaged, we believe that this season can be salvaged.
It has been suggested that we start a Go Fund Me account with a mission to collect funds to pay the fees required to use the KEC Field. While it seems unlikely that funds collected starting so late will guarantee being able to start the season on that field, it could provide the opportunity to transfer to and finish the season on that field. So, please watch for the development of that GFM account and donate what you can afford. All funds collected will be used to pay for the use of that field, even if it is for NEXT SEASON (2016/2017).
Thanks everybody, and please hang in there with us... we can get this done if you do!
The field at Austin Park will be ready for the first two teams that want to do the exhibition game that we have been discussing. The game will have to be played as early as possible, to ensure that the field is available for the kids to use when they get registered. Otherwise we'll have to wait until after 2:00pm. The event starts at 10:00am, but we rarely have enough participants signed up until late morning / early afternoon.
Many of you already know that there was a fight between two of the players in the second game yesterday afternoon. The fact that the two players involved were on the same team makes the incident even more surreal than any other type of bad player conduct that already exists in our league. If this were Pop Warner, this type of activity would not be tolerated! Glory Days Flag Football League is an organization working on the principle of providing opportunities for players of all ages to PLAY THE GAME OF FLAG FOOTBALL. Anytime one player crosses the line of transition from flag football player to “perpetrator of personal physical assault”, the entire league suffers a hit on the public reputation that we are trying to legitimize within our communities. The damage that was done to the morale of the participants who were on the field, including fans with young family members, is immeasurable. How far reaching the effect that this incident will have on our league’s reputation is even more difficult to comprehend. Individuals that do not seem to be able to grasp the significance of how unwelcome this behavior is, will not be welcomed as members of this organization. With that in mind, and including the fact that the instigator of the violent act involved with the hostility exhibited yesterday had been suspended from play once last season also, we feel compelled to officially ban that player from all future league activities. We are intentionally withholding the name of this individual pending any legal actions that may need to be taken in light of the fact that the other player has sustained completely unwarranted and relatively severe injuries as a result of the attack. Again, this all seems so surreal given that yesterday’s contest was conducted between… “ADULTS!!!....????”
In an effort to make duplicate copies of certain league documents more available to any league member, we've created text links that indicate which documents have been uploaded to this website. Find the "block" on the homepage just underneath the weather service sticker and click on the appropriate form title. We'll be adding more pertinent documents as pending file conversion work allows. A more complete list of documents is already available on our Facebook group wall under "files" tab. Enjoy...
We're going to give you players the opportunity to get in some game action. We'll be playing on the "mini-field" at Austin Park. This will be a pick up style game unless two previously formed teams show with completed rosters. Since there may be several new league members coming out to play, we'd appreciate some spontaneous cooperation with getting them some play time also.
TWIMC,
Since we'll be setting up a "mini-field" at Redbud Baseball Fields on Saturday, June 28th and have a referee crew there for kids to play some five on five passing scrimmages, I'd like to encourage anyone that wants to play some to get your teams together and let us know about it! Even if you can't get a team together, and you'd like to be involved somehow, come on out and "coach" some kids or help us officiate. We're gonna have some water balloons to play with and lunch will be on us.
It's been brought to my attention that some possible roster changes occurred on Saturday(2/8/14). The league policy on roster changes did include the fact that all rosters were supposed to be set before games started two weeks ago. Since only one team turned in a roster sheet at that time and I don't have any others still, we're forced to require that a completed team roster be submitted before any game gets played from this point on. I will do a roll call also, so everyone needs to get to the field early enough to get this accomplished before your respective game is scheduled to start. We'll be out there(as usual) by 10:00am. I will be starting your game clocks on time...period! I will contact all team captains individually to let them know. Otherwise, please spread the word on this as much as possible. Thanks everyone...
Reminder: Team registration fees are due before the games that are being played on January 4th begin. We are also recruiting help for the officiating crew for the remainder of games this entire season. Thanks for your support everyone!
